growing as a community

iCAREcommunity is an emerging competency framework for specialist psychologists who work for people with disabilities and vulnerabilities within the community contexts.

Drawing concepts from the U.S., Australian and Singapore SkillsFuture competency standards for a generalist psychologist, iCAREcommunity is a competency framework unique to the Singapore social service sector.

Why we care about developing a competency framework for you

Aligned with our vision of ‘Enabling our clients and their families to live their most independent and meaningful lives’, we want to help you - the sector’s psychologists to be even more competent and confident in your work.

Competence is a combination of the complex attributes of knowledge, skills and attitudes; with the ability to make professional judgement and to perform intelligently in specific situations. By delineating what a psychologist needs to do in the social service sector, we want to:

  1. Inform the sector on the responsibilities psychologists need to perform and on the minimal service standards

  2. Provide a roadmap for addressing potential gaps in skills and a guide for organisations to take action in order to strengthen and multiply its human resources

Uplifting your competence will benefit and empower our clients and their families!
