Assessment
There are five competency units of assessments that help you to succeed in assessment:
1. Selection & Administration
Selection and administration of test battery is a topic which covers many arenas of psychological practice. Here we focus on how psychologists select and use standardised test batteries in the community contexts of Singapore.
2. Clinical Interview
Clinical interview is central to psychological assessment. It is different from our ordinary day-to-day conversations as it involves an interpersonal interaction in the context of professional relationship between clients and a psychologist to achieve a mutually accepted purpose.
3. Behaviour Observation
Behaviour observation is a key component in psychological assessment. Observing the behaviours of our clients is a method to be used in conjunction with standardized tests, interviews, behavioural and personality checklists in the assessment process.
4. Interpretation of Results
Interpretation of standardised test results are crucial in the assessment process. Similar to selection and administration of test battery, anyone who score and interpret the test results should be a qualified or a supervised person who has undergone formal training in interpretation.
5. Post-assessment Feedback
Post-assessment feedback is where psychologists review the purpose of the assessment, present the assessment findings and recommend possible interventions and course of action. Post-assessment feedback should be conducted after psychologist has completed the psychological report (if any). It is preferable to be provided within a certain time frame after the assessment.
Assessment report writing is covered under Report writing in iCARE Community, you can find more information here.
